THE DEBT

By Karina Halle

Publisher: Metal Blonde Books

Publication Date: AUGUST 29, 2016

Her life changed in an instant.

And he’s the only one who could have prevented it.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Pact and The Lie comes a new standalone contemporary romance about those McGregor men.

Jessica Charles shouldn’t have even been in London when the unthinkable happened.

She should have been back at home in Edinburgh, perhaps hanging with her boyfriend, having drinks with her sister or doing yoga with her group of friends. She should have been going on in her normal, dependable life as always.

But on that fateful day in August, when a mentally-ill ex-soldier opened fire in public, Jessica’s world changed forever.

Now single and crippled from the gunshot wounds, Jessica finds herself scared and alone, losing faith in herself and humanity with each agonizing moment that passes.

That is until a stranger enters her life. A stranger who makes her live again.

Keir McGregor has always been the strong, silent type. Throw in tall, dark, and handsome and you’ve got pretty much the perfect Scotsman.

Except Keir is anything but perfect. He’s got a past he’s running away from and a guilty conscience he can’t seem to shed. But the more time he spends with Jessica, the more he falls in love with her.

And the more his secret threatens to tear them apart.

He may have been a stranger to her.

But she’s never been a stranger to him.

EXCERPT

“You’re not going anywhere,” he says. “Sit. I’ll get you another drink.”

“It’s getting late,” I say feebly but I sit down anyway, my leg giving a protest of pain.

“You need something for that?” he says, noticing my wince.

“The scotch will do fine,” I tell him quickly, not wanting him to make a fuss. “But really, I should go.”

“Why?” he asks from the kitchen. I hear the top pop off the bottle, the slosh of liquid in the glass. “Where do you have to be?”

I have to think about that for a moment. He comes over and holds out the glass. “I won’t keep you here if you don’t want to be here. But if you do want to be here, you don’t need to make any excuses.”

I take the glass from him, holding it delicately in my fingers. He stands over me, a massive wall, waiting for some kind of response.

“I just…” I begin. “I…” I take a sip for bravery. Swallow. “I’m not very good at this.”

“Good at what?”

“At…this. Being with a man.”

When he doesn’t say anything to that, I look up at him. He’s got a peculiar smile on his face, his brows raised. “You call this being with a man?”

I clear my throat, feeling my cheeks grow hot. “I mean. I’ve told you before –”

“Yes, how you don’t do relationships, how you don’t do sex.”

“I never said I don’t do sex,” I remind him quickly.

His eyes never stop searching my face. “Then what is it? What are you afraid to say?”

I have the sudden urge to flee and I know it must show because he suddenly points at me and says, “Don’t you dare say you have to go again. I want you to go back to what you said, that you’re not good at this. What is this? Us? You and me? There’s nothing mystifying about you and me, Jessica. You know quite well how I feel.”

I stare at him in shock. I do? “How?”

He looks off with an air of impatience. “I invited you to dinner, you turned me down.”

“But then you said just as friends.”

“And I meant it. But there are different types of friends. It’s up to you to decide what kind we are.”

I put my drink down with a clunk. “Holy pressure.” And now it’s not just my face going hot but my entire body, flushed from head to toe.

“You’re on fire, little red,” he says, his gaze skirting over my limbs in such a hungry way I can almost feel them on my skin. “I have to say, I like this look on you. Hot and bothered.”

“Back with the innuendos again,” I comment but my voice is weak.

“No, no innuendos this time. You came looking for me tonight not because you wanted to confess but because you want something from me. What is it? What do you want from me? What do you think I can give you?”

Jesus. This is so utterly unnerving. His words slice right through me, his eyes still peeling under the layers, trying to get at something I’m not even sure of myself.

If I lie, he’ll know. I can only be honest with him.

“I want…” I take in a deep breath, my eyes breaking away. “I want…company.”

“Company?” He sounds surprised.

I nod. “That’s the truth. I’m lonely. And I’m afraid. And I’m tired of being both those things. I want to be with someone who makes me forget who I am. You make me feel fearless in a way I didn’t think possible.”

There. That’s the truth. Most of it. It hangs in the air, thickening the tension like flour to stock.

He sits down next to me, has a mouthful of Scotch. “Wow,” he says, running his hand over the beard on his jaw. “And here I was thinking you wanted my cock.”

I burst out laughing. So does he, a big wonderful bellow. The tension in the room eases up a notch.

“Sorry,” I tell him when I catch my breath. “I guess they can both mean the same thing.”

He sucks in his lip briefly, his eyes taking a lustful turn. “If you want it to.” We stare at each other for a few heavy beats. Then his focus trails back to my gaze and he says, “Why don’t you stay over?”

And there I have it. The chance to know what those full lips would feel like on mine, what his skin would taste like. I swallow hard.

 review

Starting off with your life flashing before your eyes keeps you riveted from  the get go.

Karina Halle has done  it again.  A beautiful, heart breakingly, hot, wonderful story that gives you a little bit of every feeling rolled into one.  Would you be able to look down the barrel of a gun and come back from that? Would you be able to pick up the pieces of your life that shattered and still believe in kismet?

4.5 stars for this well written heart warming story.

I’m yours, Baby

Let’s start of by how beautiful and stunning this damn cover is. I loved it. Men in Tattoos are like my Thing. And if they are Alpha male I’m sold like a cheap whore.

It amazes me how with each Novella these ladies give us they give us nothing that’s repetitive, or the same boring lines. These ladies give us different, fast paced and gripping stories.

This book is about Aspen and her amazing Weekend with Weston. There was insta love and connection. Until he gave her an Email addy and said he was leaving the country. Things happened and she needed him, missed him and over time he either was getting the emails but ignoring her or it was a bogus email Addy.

After a year of being away and wondering why the woman that had come to mean so much to him never tried to reach out,  Weston had to go back to Atlanta to Get His Woman.

Dude Got The Biggest Shock ever I Kid you not. As also expected Aspen didn’t wanna hear Jack, but our Weston definitely wasn’t one to give up easily especially when it came to the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

Now if you a Fiona Davenport Fan like me you know just how  Alpha, stubborn but Sweet and Loving their Hero’s are. Weston is no different. It was amazing watch them bond,  move past misunderstandings and become a family.
I love how Fiona’s Hero’s protect and feel for their Heroine’s.

Grab this book it’s perfect for a quick dose of Hot, sexy Alpha, Sweet Heroine, Angst and swoony Giggling School girl moments.

The Fix Up

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: Oct 11, 2016

The Fix Up Kendall Ryan ebook cover

SYNOPSIS:

From New York Times Bestseller, Kendall Ryan, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

My tempting, and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits.

It’s not just that we’re friends, he’s also a cocky, confident, and British, which means he’s a walking aphrodisiac.

But lately he’s been giving me the look. You know the one. When he thinks I’m not paying attention, and his gaze lingers for too long.

And then we start working together, and that’s when the sexual tension between us gets so thick, I want to hack through it with a machete. I want to make all these deep feelings I’ve harbored for him disappear, because there’s no way this can end well.

The lines between business and pleasure become irrevocably blurred, and I’m stuck between a rock, and Sterling’s very, very hard place.

Rather than keep a level head about our growing attraction, Sterling wants to go all in, showing me just how explosive we can be together.

But I’ve been around long enough to know that this British bad boy is more than my heart can handle. I’m not about to be cast aside like yesterday’s underwear when he’s done having fun.

Sterling’s never been told no, and he’s not about to put his ego aside and play by my rules. But I never thought he’d fight so dirty.

*This is a spin-off from the HITCHED series, but can be read as a standalone.

About the Author:

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since … forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Wide open Spaces

untitled (4)

Review by Natasha Mahadeo

Bare with me this will be a long one, but it’s important that you know really how much this book means to me. When I say this book hits so close to home now you will understand why.

I always, by aunts and uncles, felt like I didn’t fit in. I always was left out given not so nice looks. I asked my mum and she would give me answers that I can’t remember right now. What I do remember is that mum and dad distanced themselves from those people. Until one day I was when 16 years old and being Snoopy I found things that led to questions and the Answer was that I was adopted. I didn’t care because I was so loved and cherished…
UNTIL I had my Daughter. My own blood, someone that shared my Blood. So I decided let’s find my Biological family. Somehow it wasn’t what I expected.  I didn’t fit in with them. They were so different from me and how I was raised. To be honest and be myself I had to realise I wasn’t meant for these people.
So again I distanced myself from them and would keep in contact mostly only with my siblings but very occasionally.
Until one day I found out the Ugly truth.
I was never given up because my dad wasn’t around and was abusive. I was given up because I was a child conceived out of an affair. I had two older siblings that remember HER giving birth to me in the bathroom on the filthy floor. I was taken to a hospital and given away. When she went home she told everyone I died yes Died.
I, ME,  Now who only knows love, who only knows to be cherished whether it’s by my Adopted parents or my Adopted Sister( that sounds weird) BECAUSE she is my sister… I’m loved by my friends. Cherished and loved beyond words by my Husband, was once thrown away like Dirt.
It does things to your mind knowing that you layed alone in an Orphanage for 3 months. It does things to you as a mum who had a colic baby know you were also colic. Who held me?  Who cared for me like I did when my baby was Colic.
God did love me to take me from a Woman like that and give me to the most amazing parents a child could ask for….

This book broke me from the Prologue because I know I didn’t have anyone weep over me or me being given away. But this book also showed me that there are Mothers that do this for their children’s benefit. Not just to hide Dirty secrets…
This book has made me realise how much better off I am today.
Aurora writes this heartwarming story from personal experience and teaches us the gift of giving a woman a baby, but also the gift of a Baby finding a good Home. Of being loved unconditionally and taken care of in an environment that’s every child’s Right.
This book is beautiful on all levels….. teaching you so much. Even if it’s teaching you what’s meant to be will be or how no matter  what the obstacles are put in your way love removes all obstacles.
She did this by mending my heart, by also making me swoon for Zach, and fan myself at their hot Hot sexy times.
This is Hands Down Aurora’s best work yet. It’s honest, real and the dialogue never bores you.

Aurora my dream for giving a baby a home will never die and I know one day when the time is right God will make it happen.
Thank you for cementing that belief. Second Chances do exist for every aspect in every life.
Most importantly Thank You Aurora for showing me another way a mum felt when giving her baby up. Thank you for showing me  that it is not always how it happens.
Read this beautiful book ladies. It will rip your heart out but Our Rose puts it back together and then it’s like 4th July Fireworks.
Enjoy and Feel this book like I did….

EXCERPT

Prologue

Kenzi one day old

Toren fifteen years old

“We want you to be her Godfather,” Asher says as he gently lays his newborn baby into my arms. I have to tear my gaze away from her spellbinding eyes to look up at him from the chair I’m cradling the baby in.

“Me?” I repeat, glancing over at Ember in the hospital bed, who beams back at me with a tired, yet genuine smile.

“Yes, you,” they both say at the same time. “If it wasn’t for you, we probably never would have met,” Ember adds, grabbing Asher’s hand. “And we wouldn’t have this beautiful little baby. We know you’ll always protect her.”

“That’s right, man. You’re Uncle Tor now.”

I’m an uncle. And my two best friends are parents. And we’re all fuckin’ under sixteen.

But Kenzi Allyster Valentine would change us all forever. She needed us.

“Wow. I’m honored, guys. No doubt, I’ll always be here for her.”

I kick back the pang that hits my stomach. I didn’t get the girl…but I got something better that I never expected. A gift in the form of a little tiny hand wrapped tightly around my finger, huge eyes like gems staring up into mine like I was the most amazing person in the friggen’ world, and the first glimpse of what I could already tell was going to be a heart-stopping smile.

At that moment, a connection was born.

That was it.

She owned me.

My niece.

My god-daughter.

The love of my life.

5 star read

Midnight Soul.

I have to start off by saying that I’m absolutely sad this series has come to an end..
The books in this amazing series only got better and better. It shows us what a magnificent mind Kristen Ashley has. She has limitless talent.

Midnight Soul is Franka Drakker and Noc Hawthorn’s story.
Knowing the previous stories you already know Franka was never the person anyone liked. If people could they always saw her coming and they walk the opposite direction.
She portrayed herself very well so we all were convinced she was a She Devil. Her Greed for Material Possession and Sharp Tongue that often spewed things that were so hurtful and horrorendous. That’s until we see her love and Sacrifice.

Fuck me blind if this woman didn’t pull the wool over our eyes. She wasn’t anything we expected or have come to hate about Franka.

Kristen as always said is a damn Magician. Kristen always gave us no option but to hate Franni. Until Noc makes his presence known. He sees what no one else can. He starts peeling off the layers and all you do is change the perception you have of her.

Being in Franka’s you learn so so much of her. Her kindness leaves you stunned. She is such a  beautiful and loving Person and once you get to know her and what she has been through, all you wanna do is give her a Gold Star for the astoundingly strong woman she really is. Her story will make you sob. It will break ur heart and make you hate her parents. They really do Tarnish the Drakker House by their horrendous deeds. Their ill treatment towards her stops the minute Noc finds out. At the same time it solidifies what he already knew about her. This changes the way every single person sees her.

Noc is her magic pill. He sees her for who she really is. He knows under all that hard and cruel it’s just pretend. Noc plans to break through this Facade and he won’t let anyone tell him differently.
This man was so convincing and he kept at her. Until he found little cracks. Through those tiny cracks he weaved his path into her life, mind, heart, soul then Body.
He was so giving so patient, so understanding and OH-SO Alpha yummy.

I love how he understood her and what she needed. He always put that first. He also stood by her when she had no one.

There were so so many light hearted moments. These two capture your heart and steals your attention with their incredible Banter, plenty of Laugh Out Loud moments.

Even the side characters have their little stories thrown in. Once again the Queen shows us why she holds that title. The little side stories make this book Magnificent. Makes it unusual and holds ur interest. You also get invested in them esp Valentine and Circe.

This book Deserves more that 5 stars. It’s everything and wayyyyy more than what we love about Kristen.

She makes Fantasy World seem so Splendid that you wish it really existed. She never fails in giving us Strong, Gold hearted Heroine’s and the same with her Alpha male’s. She never fails to make us swoon, melt, sob and fan ourselves from the Hot Sexy time.

Grab this Book ladies and be prepared to feel alot of good bad and sweet sexy emotions.
ENJOY!!!!

Second chances is what this book is all about.

Justine was left behind by her con artist parents. She was raised by her beloved grandfather. Together they dream of her making something of herself. Right up until the day he passes away. Then she is doubly determined to fulfill this dream and works hard no matter the cost to achieve it.

Ryker is a privileged brat that gets what he wants when he wants it until Justine.

brat

Then tragedy hits and  Justine is left with one choice, make a deal with Ryker or be stuck with no one to help her move out of her apartment. Well Ryker lets her down, like she knew he would. She improvises and moves on.

the big bang theory sheldon raising

Tragedy strikes again and looses her scholarship now has to find a way to pay for law school. Here is where I leave you. Because to allow any detail from here on would be Bad Judgment on my part lol I refuse to ruin the brilliance of Meghan March’s writing. This is her best work yet and she keeps you on your toes and adds in a few twist and turns that will keep you turning the pages faster then you ever have before until you feel sideswiped by her magnificent story weaving abilities.

I am a huge Meghan March fan and with every book I one click I fall in love even more. This book is like its author sexy as all hell, fun with a side of witty oh and HOT!
